Phoenix roebelinii The Phoenix palm, or pygmy date palm, is a very effective plant in atriums and brightly lit areas where it can grow to quite a size. It can be used as a smaller specimen in the office or home, but beware of the sharp spines at the base of the leaves. Good air circulation is needed, for the Phoenix palm to thrive indoors.
